Yesterday, Thursday December 15, we celebrated the traditional Christmas lunch in which we were accompanied by the President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Luis Ibarra, the Maritime Captain of Las Palmas, Francisco García Lascuráin and different representatives of the Public Administrations of the maritime sector.

In the words addressed to the attendees by Jaime Cabrera, President of Asocelpa, he highlighted “the work carried out by the Port Authority, which thanks to its management has allowed to continue improving the Port’s competitiveness. He also affirmed that, today more than ever, the Port Authority is aware of the importance of working hand in hand with ship agents and stevedores towards the common goal of the Port’s development”.

He also commented on the novelties of this 2022 “in which we have incorporated among the activities of Asocelpa, the creation of the Friends of the Ocean platform, which is having a great reception. It is the firm commitment of Asocelpa with sustainable development, in which we contribute a drop of common sense, with the support of many companies and organizations of the islands, to protect the fauna and flora of the husband environment with an active policy of awareness”.

He also wanted to highlight “the election of Asocelpa as a member of the new Executive Committee of ASECOB, the Spanish Association of Ship Consignees, in the framework of the Annual Assembly that took place in Madrid”.

Finally he stated that “we have ahead of us not very optimistic forecasts for 2023, so there is no end to the degree of demand that we have been enduring for years in the face of all the vicissitudes that have had to be managed since the previous crisis (2008), and especially since the last almost 3 years. I am convinced that, as we have already demonstrated in extreme situations, our sector will have the strength, vision and solvency to be able to overcome this foreseeable new challenge”.

In a pleasant atmosphere, in the company of our partners, we were able to celebrate these warm celebrations, wishing them a prosperous 2023.

Spirit of Connection.
