Last Friday, 10th December, after the forced break in 2020, we celebrated the traditional Christmas lunch in which the President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Luis Ibarra, and the Maritime Captain of Las Palmas, Francisco García Lascurain, accompanied us.

In the words addressed to the attendees by Jaime Cabrera, President of Asocelpa, he highlighted “the work carried out by all our members, in which a very tough test has been passed in which we have taken a step forward to maintain the logistics chain and the services in the best conditions, meeting the daily challenges that arose in the Port”.

He also stated that “we can celebrate having left behind the specifications of the Basic Port Services, in which the Port Authority has taken important steps to be able to provide this great Port with the regulatory frameworks that govern said services.” And he stressed that “the lowering of rates has also been very well received, which comes at a time when companies needed any downward adjustment of the costs we bear”, and that “the valuation of the land is currently being processed, which also includes notorious decreases, except for container terminals, which hope to be able to have a better consideration ».

He also wanted to highlight “the good relationship with all the administrations and organizations that come together in the port sector, the result of our predisposition to working on behalf and for the Port, and above all, we are always seeking the general interest, and not being puppets of any particular business interest.

For his part, the president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas Luis Ibarra, praised the fact that the Port has been one of the sectors that has maintained its activity and has even grown. Ibarra showed his commitment to promoting the competitiveness of the Port, an idea that Asocelpa itself defends, and to working on the continuous improvement of the different collaborative regulatory instruments.

Merry Christmas and prosperous 2022.
